iOS 18.3 features

With the third beta of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 released by Apple today, there are additional tweaks to Dark Mode icons, Photos app, Emoji in Messages and a number of other features that Apple seems to be getting ready to launch. Apple Intelligence.

Dark Mode Icons for iOS 18.3

Facebook, Etsy, Telegram, Signal, Slack, Notion, YouTube and many other third-party apps now have ‘Dark Mode’ icons. Apple appears to automatically add ‘Dark Mode’ icons to apps that have icons with a handful of colors.

With some icons, the secondary color becomes the main color, the background color becomes black, and with other white icons the background is converted to black.

Apps with complex icon designs in many colors don’t change to a ‘Dark Mode’ color at this point, but Apple colors them darker. When iOS 18′ launches, app developers will be able to provide their own bold icons to use instead of Apple’s default.

Photos App

Apple has added a Select button to the main ‘Photos’ interface for selecting multiple images, so there’s no need to swipe down to get to the Select button anymore.

With this change, the search button is now just a magnifying glass, but it’s highlighted more prominently in blue.

Emoji

In Messages, emoji, Memoji and stickers are all combined into one interface, which can be navigated using small icons at the bottom of the display. There are icons you can tap to go to stickers or Memoji, and you can scroll through your Memoji to quickly find specific characters and gestures.
You can create both stickers and Memoji from this interface, and you can use stickers in your messages just like you can use emoji. This only works with non-moving stickers, and those with animations from Live Photos will display larger attachment sticker sizes. However, small stickers used as emoji are hard to see.

Emoji are displayed larger than before, so you see more information before scrolling, but fewer characters and more emoji and stickers are displayed at once in the recent section.

Wallpaper

There is a dynamic version of the iOS 18 wallpaper that transitions through different colors based on the time of day.

Flashlight interface

There’s a bigger and more intuitive interface for changing the brightness and spread of the LED flash used for the flashlight feature, when you turn on the flashlight or tap the controls from the Dynamic Island.
